Talking Business on Campus
Rochester Institute of Technology has two interesting events coming up for people who have their minds on business.
Tomorrow, the school's Center for Integrated Manufacturing Studies is conducting a day-long seminar examining the state of manufacturing in our region and country. Members of the U.S. departments of Commerce and Energy and the National Academies of Science and Engineering will speak, along with representatives of local businesses. The seminar is part of CIMS' ongoing study designed to help area manufacturers become more competitive. It is by invitation only.
Then, on Friday, one of the country's pre-eminent experts in intellectual property and cyber-law will be speaking. Lawrence Lessig, professor of law at Stanford University, will talk on his favorite subjects from 9 to 11 a.m. in Ingle Auditorium in the Student Alumni Union. Lessig is one of the nation's pre-eminent scholars in the intersection of law with the Internet. The speech is free and open to the public.
