Kodak Blings at the Academy
I suppose I am just playing into the company's dastardly plan to get attention. But as this is an idea that probably was conceived, planned and executed in Rochester, it's too good to pass up.
Eastman Kodak is participating in a high-level marketing stunt in connection with the 78th Academy Awards on Sunday in Hollywood. Each nominee for best actress will receive a special Kodak EasyShare V570 camera, the world's first camera with two lenses. The rub: Each camera will be personalized with the actress's initials in 75 "brilliant-cut diamonds" provided by partner Kwiat Diamonds. Estimated value: $20,000 apiece. No word if that includes the cost of the camera.
The deal is getting attention from one of the top technology web sites, Engadget. Check out some of the vitriolic comments at the end.
