Another Laptop Privacy Threat
Not to sound insensitive, but what is it with people carrying around laptop computers with highly sensitive personal information? Last summer Eastman Kodak Co. disclosed that a laptop belonging to a human resources consultant had been stolen; the laptop contained personal information for about 5,800 former Kodak workers.
Now fast forward a few months, as history repeats itself: Last month someone stole a laptop belonging to Fidelity Investments that contains information on 196,000 retirement accounts. The owners of the accounts are participants in Hewlett-Packard Corp.'s pension and 401(k) plans. Read the story here.
Hmmm, come to think of it there are few people running Kodak who may be wondering if they're among the 196,000....for one, CEO and Chairman Antonio Perez, who worked for HP for 25 years.
